Keep your Vedico Himalayan Shilajit Resin in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Keep the lid securely closed after each use to help maintain its quality.

Take approximately 300–500 mg (roughly a pea-sized amount) and dissolve completely in lukewarm water, milk or herbal tea.

How do I know this is real shilajit and not a fake?

It's the right question to ask. The resin market has a serious counterfeiting problem — coal tar, mineral wax and fulvic acid mixed with soil are all sold as shilajit, and much of what's listed online wouldn't pass a basic authenticity check.

Here's how you can check ours yourself:

  • Warm water test. Stir a pea-sized amount into warm (not boiling) water. Genuine resin dissolves slowly and completely, turning the water dark brown to reddish-black, with no grit or sediment left behind.
  • Temperature test. It should firm up when cold and soften in your hand. A product with exactly the same consistency in every season isn't behaving like a natural material.
  • Smell and taste. Strongly earthy and mineral, bitter, slightly metallic. Sweet, perfumed or bland is the warning sign, not the good sign.

None of these home checks can detect heavy metals or microbial contamination — only laboratory testing does that, which is why we publish our results. Every batch is tested for lead, mercury, arsenic and cadmium, and the batch code on the base of your jar matches the certificate on this page.

What's the fulvic acid content, and why don't you claim 90%?

You'll see products advertising 90% or even 100% fulvic acid. Treat those with caution. Genuine shilajit contains fulvic and humic substances in a range of roughly 15–80%, depending on the altitude it came from, the rock it seeped from and how it was purified. Figures above that range usually mean either the labelling is wrong or something has been added.

A higher percentage isn't automatically better shilajit, and any brand competing purely on that number is telling you what they think you want to hear rather than what's in the jar.

What does it taste like?

Strong. Bitter, earthy, and slightly metallic, with a smoky edge.

Most people trying resin for the first time are surprised, and a fair few wonder whether something's wrong with it. Nothing is. That taste is the mineral content, and it's the most reliable everyday sign that you've got the real thing. Shilajit that tastes sweet, smooth or of nothing much has usually been diluted or flavoured.

If you'd rather not taste it at all, dissolve it in warm milk with a little honey, or in a strong herbal tea. Some people take it with warm water first thing and simply get used to it within a week.

My resin has gone hard. Is it off?

No — that's a good sign. Resin firms in cool weather and softens in warm. Stand the sealed jar in warm water for a few minutes, or warm the spoon in your hand. A product that never changes consistency is the one to worry about.
